Car randomly cuts out of certain speeds

Car randomly cuts out of certain speeds
I'm not really sure how to describe this, but I'll do my best.
On certain days I'll be driving around and I'll keep the car at the indicated speed limit. If I keep a constant pressure on the gas pedal, the car feels like it is out of gas. It sputters and loses speed.
However, all I have to do is either floor the gas pedal, or take my foot off of it and then push back down on it and it usually fixes itself.
It doesn't do it on every trip though. It just randomly happens.
Anyone have idea idea what could be wrong here?
