You can put 18's on there if you wanted to...but i would not reccomend it as it looks retarded. I have 17's and i rub every once in a while going over some bigger harsher bumps and dips...hind sight is always 20/20, that being said i wish i got some 15's maybe 16's if i liked the wheel enough.

a friend of mine had me try to put some 22's on his 07 accord, i think the stock tire size is 205/50/16 these were 255/40/22, yeah, it was funny.

back to your question, the width of the tire will be somewhat affected by how low you plan on running it as well, i ran 16's with 205/45/16's at one point, now i have 15's.

18s on a honda...

ideal width depends on offset and chassis prep.
If you flare the front fenders and do a tone of measureing to get the offset perfect you can squeeze a 7.5-8" in there but it's a shoehorn fit and you will not be able to turn the wheel all the way.
assuming you know that you'll have to roll the fender lips to do anything when lowered...
15x7s with a 42 offset fit great.
16x7.5 with a 38 offset will fit but you will have to 'adjust' the inner fender lining a little.
I don't know about 17's.

car is down ~2.25"

x2

I prefer 15's and 16's... Just looks a lot cleaner

If you're going to autocross it and be serious about it, 14's or 15's.

16's if you want to bend a rim or lose sidewall flex.

17's or bigger and autocrossers wil laugh at you.
