car wont start PLEASE help
ok so i searched through 4 pages and cant find anything. so ive has 2 a6s and 2 z6s in car and its ran fine no probs. pick up another a6 and put it in... everything is plugged in all grounds are hooked up... no rad or coolant lines (just wanna make sure it starts before i finish it)new starter new alternator. i hooked up the battery and attempted to start it but the starter just clicks i tried to tap the starter and still nothing. i had a friend sit in the car and try to start it so i could listen thats when i thought the starter wasnt engaging the flywheel. so i tried cranking the motor by hand to get a diffent angle with the starter and he said every time i would turn it the battery light would blink on the cluster. through the 4 motors ive never had this problem... i even took my time to make sure everything was right cause im trading the car for a chopper so any help would be awesome..............p.s.sorry for the screen door...im kind of intoxicated and tired. PEACE
Is this a known good starter or do you have another one you can swap it out for?
If it's clicking that tells me that you have it hooked up correctly. Pull that starter out and remove the cover on the end of the solenoid housing. Inside you will find a spring loaded plunger and under said plunger you'll see 2 copper tabs. These tabs are called starter contacts and wear down over time. They are probably about $5 worth in parts and are a pretty easy swap. Try changing those out and see if it fixes your problem.
For your info: The solenoid plunger acts as a relay to isolate the circuit of the starter motor. If the solenoid plunger makes contact with the tabs but the starter motor does not engage, it typically means it's not getting the power it needs to drive the starter motor.

No Problem
Is the battery old and tired? Try turning the key 2 clicks (make sure the car is in nuetral or there is someone in the drivers seat holding the brakes) and use a piece of 12 Gauge wire to jump the starter. All you need is about 4 inches of wire and strip both ends. Touch 1 end to the spade terminal in the starter (remove the black wire) and then touch the other end to the large power lug on the starter. It should start cranking if the starter is getting the juice it needs. This should tell you if its starter related or something else electrical on the car.
You check the battery with a voltmeter and make sure you didnt lose a cell?

tried jumping the soleinoid already but the cars been sitting for about 2 weeks so MAYBE the battery is low but everything else comes on without a problem. idk im stumped for now im gonna get some sleep and try it again tomorrow
I had this EXACT same problem with my crx a few days ago, the battery terminal clamp turned out to be bad, took the old on off, stripped the wire and cleaned it, try again VROOM everytime now. so its either that or the battery is too low. Good luck
Yep, definitely sounds like a low battery or bad connection. Try running a battery + or jump right to the starter post (where the battery wire goes in) and ground the - lead to the engine, then start it. Be careful that the positive doesn't move or you'll be welding!
