How important is the resonator?
I am fixing to run a full custom exhaust piping. What size do you recommend for me. I don't have a turbo. Also the guy at the muffler shop said it would be better not to run a resonator. I know that the resonator cuts down sound. Do you think it would make my exhaust too loud? Also, what Cat do you guys recommend.
Thanks for the help

i went custom 2" pipe with no resonator sounds good and my seat dyno tells me its running stronger... BUT.. when i get on it, it gets all tinny sounding which i have read that a resonator will help take care of. i think thats why GReddy and other companies use them.
p.s. if you end up using one, let me know how it works, i might go back and have one put onto mine.

two and a quarter will be fine.
usually, w/o resonators, exhausts sound "raspy," and they don't hurt flow at all.
personally i think it depends all on which and what type of muffler used regarding how much of a difference a resonator makes.

I'm running a Dynomax super turbo muffler with a 31 inch resonator. 2 1/4 piping. (stock cat) This thing is silent at idle and low rpms, but doesn't even really get that loud at WOT. Just a nice growl, but i really can't hear it over the intake. Maybe i should of went with a 25 inch resonator.
I bet it'll sound pretty good with a high-flow cat.
