cracked axle?
i might be buying a car that's 2 hrs away from where i live
the woman says the mechanic told her it has a cracked axle but is still drivable
the way she puts it she didnt know about it until her mechanic told her during inspection
there shouldnt be a problem taking a 2hr car ride with it back home, right?
and after it's home and in my arms, is there a possibility of tranny damage?
what else MIGHT need to be replaced beside the axle itself?

Depends on where it's cracked. You don't want that shaft to snap and become a propeller under there, Then you'll be replacing a lot of stuff. That, and if you have an open diff, you're car probably won't go anywhere.
If it's just the CV boot, no worries. If it's just one of the tripodes you'll get vibrations, but it should be safe.
You'll probably want to replace the axle seal though.
