Default How much did your 60k service cost? Is it required?

Hey guys im at 59,000 miles on the 5th gen now. Im wondering what the 60k service is all about, and it is it really required immediately?

Also how much did you guys pay. Did you do it yourself? How much should i expect Honda to charge me?

I know nothing about the Honda 60k, but the Toyota 60k is a major service. It includes plenty of visual inspections (as always), but also includes cleaning the AC evap and TB. It's more expensive than it needs to be, but that's how dealer's are. I believe it's about $350 at Toyota, but I don't really remember

none the less you could do everything yourself. really nothing to it. if your not mechanically inclined then just pay to get it done.

The 60k service consists of all fluid changes, rotating tires, new air filter, oil filter, visual inspections. I think that's the jist of it. If you've taken care of your lude, you shouldn't need it right away. I got my 60k done at 71500 miles. I couldn't afford it right away. I'll say it could cost around 400 dollars. Give or take some. I hear the only thing you really need is just flush the coolant, but it's always nice to have fresh blood. Prelude Love!

Dealerships always do a bunch of random crap that I suppose TECHNICALLY should be looked at but........ I don't know?
Just make sure your belts (and/or hoses) aren't cracking.... if they are, just replace all of them. It's not a waste of money. And of course check the underside of your car for leaks after it's been sitting all night/get the oil changed/tire pressure and rotation, spark plugs etc. (But then again, all these things are regular maitenece and you've probably done them already?)

The one thing that ALL prelude owners should do is have your exhaust valves checked every 30k mi, esp on 5th gen. The alignment needs to be checked as well as if there is any buildup on the valves themselves. (But it's all in the same process) Trust me I'm speaking from EXPERIENCE. A valve job is not cheap and it's no fun. A check-up every 30k is only about an hour of shop time which is what? 80-100 bucks?
I still don't fully understand why the engine has a tendency to put deposits on the exhaust valves........ but, it will eventually over heat and destroy them. Some weird V-tech thing think...

As far as pricing goes? Don't know. I'm sure the Honda Dealership will have a list of all the things they do. Just ask em. Then pick from the list the ones that matter, and take your car to a good shop and have them do those things. I know sometimes it's hard to find a good mechanic, but once you do it'll be worth it, because dealerships charge way to much for...what.??? I don't know? Just because they're a dealership doesn't mean the guy (or girl, I guess) working on your car knows anything......(sad I know) ...

Hope this helps?
If not........... sorry I used so much space.

90-100k, not 60. And I doubt they change all your fluids for only $400

I'm at 90K currently and haven't done any. I have no issues. I'm curious to what is involved to flush the fluids. I don't mind getting dirty. Is there alot of work to do some of those things?

Thanks.

your kidding me right. this stuff will take all of a hr. the alignment you obviously cant do. so go to merchants and get an alignment policy. unlimited alignments for like 169.00 for 3years. like i said before. if you are not mechanically inclined then take the car to the dealer and let them do it before you cost yourself another couple hundred dollars.

The 60k service I paid for was going to be $415 and some change, but since they mailed a coupon to me, I used that. Anyways, what's with this exhaust valve build up? Is that common in 5th gens, and is it really harmful? Thanks!
