I just got done installing my H&R Sport springs, and I decided to take it out around the neighborhood for a little shake down to make sure everything was ok. Part way down the driveway, I heard a slight tapping sound when I hit a bump. As I went down the street, every bump would make a tap, fairly clearly from the driver's side. I started weaving side to side to see if I could do it myself, but it would only do it on bumps. I got back to the house, looked around in the wheel well and it looked "ok." I opened the hood, and there was a small dent just above the end of the UCA, shaped like the end of the UCA. Why would it do this? It was all working fine before on my Tein H Techs, and the car is sitting normally. Actually, the driver's side sits just a little higher than the passenger side, which does not seem to have this problem. The boots are torn on both ball joints, but I don't see what that would have to do with it. The ball joints themselves are still good (or at least they didn't have excessive play or anything)
How much drop are the springs? My buddies teg hits too but his is on coils and its dropped like 4 inches.
Thats weird too because mine is dropped like 3 1/2 inches and it doesnt hit. As you can tell from my avatar.

Only 1.3" Does anyone have a picture of the area right of the driver's side upper strut mount? I'm trying to see if maybe that dent was always there, because I stuck my finger in there, and it feels like it'd be a long way to travel to hit
there is not oem dents
. But you should be able to tell if you car is old though because there should be a layer of dirt built up on your inner fender. Check it when the car is jacked up and you will see the marks where it is hitting if in fact it is. But I know where your talking about. 1.3" shouldn't make it hit, weird. On SLAMMED cars you will see they will cut that part out, so that there upper control arm has a place to go.

I sifted though the pic thread, but couldn't find a good shot of the area. I took one of mine for comparison. The concern is towards the middle, slightly lower left
Yeah I hammered the inside of the seam over because w my coilover I dropped it about 3 inches overall, and my uca would hit it once in a while, but thats with stiff *** springs and a 3' drop.Weird that is only a 1.3 drop and its hitting.

Did some more feeling, looking, and driving, and I've kinda got it figured out. First off, that dent has to be normal, because there's a layer in between that and the UCA, and that layer is fine. However, the nut on top of the strut is not tight. I spun them off with my fingers. When I put the struts together, they were tight, but the weight of the car put them down. Did I forget to put a piece in there or something? When I put them together, I did bump stop, gold washer that slides part way down, strut cover, black washer, then cap with bushings. I didn't have any parts left over, so I'm totally lost here. There has to be something to keep the strut moving with the spring, but I have no clue. I'm gonna pull out the Helms
*update* Helms says I did it right. Does this mean my bushings are just shot? They looked alright to me, and have been working fine up till now. Maybe I just need to tighten the nuts till everything's solid. On my H Techs and stock springs, 6 exposed threads was enough to keep it happy

Nope, I'm just an idiot. I bought new nuts for the top of the struts (one fell into oblivion) and they were shorter than the old ones. Combine that with a different strut, and I just didn't tighten the nuts all the way. I had them down 5 threads, when they needed 15 threads. Now everything's great. Both passenger and driver have 2 finger gap, and no strange noises
