Default car wont start, need help

ok i originally posted this in the engine tech forum but have got no responses in two days. a few days ago i changed the clutch in my car and when i went for a test drive it ran perfectly and felt good. i dropped gears to see how it feels with the new clutch and all the lights came on (check engine, maintence req, oil, etc.) the car just died.i pulled the car over and tried restarting it, but it only cranks over but doesnt start. i assumed it was just a sensor we forgot to plug in or that popped out when i down shifted, but i re-checked and all the sensors were plugged in. we also pulled the spark plugs out and they werent igniting. any help would be greatly appreciated

-nick

btw i went to autozone to get a ecu scanner to check the codes but they dont have them for obd 1, does anyone know how i could check the codes?

If the plugs are not recieving spark, check the coil pack (located underneath the distributor cap).

Once you get to the coil, you will be able to see its output... I had a friend hold a sparkplug wire that was still connected to the plug/motor about an inch from the coil's output while I turned the engine over. There was no arc between the two, which lead us to believe the coil was toasted. If you remove the coil, you can also use a muti-meter to test the coil; however I am unable to provide instructions on this.

Yea it sounds like the dizzy to me. When my timing belt went bad it did the same thing. The first thig we checked for was the dizzy. But unfortunately it was the timing belt.

so you mean to change the whole distributor? even after i changed the coil? there is somethin else that could have gone bad within the distributor, and is there a way i could check that stuff?

have you check for fuel pressure?did the new distributor came with a new igniter or did you use the old one? also check you fuses with a test light, also does the car turn over but dont start or it just doesnt do anything at all.

what about fuel, and did you reuse the igniter inside the distributor?I'll try to get some info on how to check it and also how to check the main relay.
