Default cbr 929rr question

Recently purchased a 2000 cbr 929 rr. On the guage panel I have a "A" lit up. Do you guys know what that stands for? I am assuming antifreeze so I checked it in the radiator and it the overflow and both are full. My buddy has a "B" lit up on his and his doesn't crank over nearly as fast as mine(he has a 954rr) so we are assuming its his battery... Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Aaron

A and B are the trip odometer settings... you should have a button that switches between the two.

Oh okay....So then what does the a and b stand for? Cuz we are both on mph and his is on b and mine is a

Glad to know it isn't anything serious.

Thanks
Aaron

Its wierd because we raced from 60 mph to 140 mph in 5th gear and he pulled on me about 1 length. But if we race from 2nd gear up to 4th gear I pull a length or more every gear.

I have velocity stacks, power commander, custom ram air, full hindle exhaust, dropped 2 teeth in front sprocket. All he has is d&d slip on.

I was dynoed at 135 at md racing in orion illinois.

Why does he ever so slightly pull on me in fifth but going through the gears I smoke on him??

Do you know what a 02' 954 puts to the rear wheel?

I wish I could put some pics up somehow damnit!

Later,
Aaron

Trip A = Trip 1

Trip B = Trip 2.

Basically you can count the miles between TWO different trips. It's a simple concept, same as your car has, but just digital and two of them.

And if you have different gearing that explains the difference when you two are racing, on track i hope. Think about it....

He's probably pulling on you because he has more displacement. I bet he makes more torque then you, so when you're droning along in 5th gear, he's got more pull.
Bottom line, they're not the same bike, so there's no reason why they should be exactly the same in terms of speed. There's also rider weight, and rider skill to keep in mind.
Comparing motorcycles in terms of straight line speed is like comparing cars based on windows. They're all relatively the same.
