The Beast:
1991 CRX Si

Plans:
Stock A6 block with Y8 Head
Si trans minty fresh
New suspension
etc etc
New part list for mini-me:
Y8 Timing Belt
Y8 Intake Mani Gasket
Y8 Tensioner kit
Y8 Valve cover gasket
A6 oil pan gasket
A6 rear main seal
A6 exhaust gasket
A6 waterpump
Z6 Head gasket
Over the course of this week I'm going to clean the motor/trans up, paint it, and start putting things together.
I pulled the old CRX motor/trans out already, reason being I had a clutch problem 3 weeks after I snapped a timing belt. Frustrating.
This time everything is going to be new and done right. If all else fails, I should have a motorcycle this week.
UPDATE: May 21st
As of now, the only parts I need to complete this swap is the head bolts...still deciding on ARPs or new oem.
Valve cover and block have been painted. Lots of overspray on valve cover but o well. I felt like going with a surfboard, classic style, sorry nick, no satin green house paint on engines
I will update this beast with a complete part list, $$ total cost, and day by day progress.....yea right
on with the pics...
badass valve cover and a6 block

Work space...

Skunk2 Cam gear and y8 head

Minty Fresh

Y8 intake mani

New Si emblem, couldnt resist

My JDM bodywork, never done it before, there was a huge gash.

Dirty Jersey Engine bay, might spray red

2 CRXs and my DD 87 civic si.

pics of crx Si's like the one above make me want to do NOTHING but get my car all back to stock.... GRRR, wish my Si was that clean. And be carefull, because the mini-me is a gateway drug that leads to other things.

small update
Got a whole bunch of parts in.
After doing some research on head bolts in the 92-00 civic forum
I realize I need 9 A6 head bolts and 1 y8 head bolt.
I don't know if I should order ARPs next day delivery, or pay like 20 less for the oem bolts.
I managed to clean the a6 block up and paint it silver. I had to take the block to a shop to get the seized crank pulley bolt off. They had to torch it, and hammer the pulley off.
I just read that because the y8 tensioner doesnt fit the a6 block, I can't use it or my new y8 timing belt. So thats a waste...I now i have to go get a d15b7 timing belt which is 106 teef, and use a6 waterpump and a6 tensioner. I kinda wanna shoot someone.
Also, I'm guessing the y8 head is going to be off a half toof (5 degrees) so do i HAVE to order an adj. cam gear or just run like ****?
blahhh

Aluminum engine paint FTW!!
I am in a serious rut with the head bolt situation.
I want to use new oem bolts, or arps, but its going to take forever to get either in. I can get the d16z arp head stud set in tommorow, but the 1 freak bolt wont be in for 2 weeks..
Now I gotta pay like 75$ for oem bolts to come in hopefuly by monday...

I need 88-95 sohc head bolts. 9 of them to be exact, and I ordered the one y8 head bolt for the hole by the vtec solenoid...
I'm now considering reusing bolts because I don't feel like paying 80$ for stock bolts, only to wait 2 weeks for them to come in :/.
I tried to locate the arp head stud part # AM61001LB and its on back order.
Dammit.
