Default Where do I feed SEAFOAM in from?

Hi All,
As the title suggest, I would like to know where the vacuum line is that I need to feed the seafoam in from on my 1998 civic.

On my stang, I slowly fed it in from the brake booster hose...but I can't seem to locate it on the civic. Can someone please point it out from the pictures below?

In the first picture its at the very top. If you look on the back of you manifold you will see a black hose that should run to your brake booster. Just take it off from the booster and feed the seafoam from there. I used a little bottle with a tip that I could squeeze... worked really well since that line has a lot of suction.

Brake boost. Once you've put in about half the can, you could put the other half in the crankcase. Then drive at a high rpm until most of the smoking is out.

Do it slowly, if you totally submerge the hose it will stall out.

i suck half the bottle in the brake booster, then 1/4th in the crankcase then 1/4th in the gas tank...after all the smoke comes out do an oil change

That's another way of doing it.

But i always get 2 cans. Most of a can for the gas tank alone.

Can't hurt.

Great!
Thanks a bunch guys.

Yea..I've been using seafoam for a couple of years now. Its worked REALLY REALLY well on my mustang. I had a rough idle on the stang and sometimes a little hesitation during acceleration from a stop. The first time I used seafoam...all that was gone. I do it once a year on the stang. The first time it smoked like crazy...my whole street was pretty much covered. Everytime after that..it only smoked a bit (so I assume it cleaned it well the first time???)

Anyway..i'll try giving the civic a go tonight when I get home. Thanks for helping me locate the hose..I think I know which one it is now. I recently bought this civic from my sister and need to get it emmission tested and safety. It's been sitting for about 8 months...so I figured a little "cleaning up" should help it hass emmissions test.

Seafoam will help it on its way... and after 8 months that bad boy needs an oil change anyhow. How many miles are on the motor? Has the fuel filter been replaced on time also?

Yup..i put some seafoam in the crankcase already and drove around for about 15 minutes. I haven't had time to put the plates on it yet..so I couldn't drive far.

I'm not sure how many miles the motor has..the odometer read 112,000 miles...but I think its got more than that. As you can see from the pictures..it looks a little Frankensteined! We bought this car 3 years ago, and only recently found out it had a Salvage Title! Its a complete rebuild. While it hasn't caused ANY problems in the past 3 years...we are just unsure of what parts are on it. Things just don't "match up" if you know what I mean.

Other than brakes....we haven't change a thing in the past 3 yrs. I will probably spend a couple of bucks to do some maint. work on it. I am selling the mustang and keeping the civic.....so I'd like to make sure it is in decent shape (mechanically).

Gonna miss the stang thought

Just to verify...I have circled the hose which I think you guys are referring to..is this the right one???

Thanks again!

its circled in red. pull of the nozzle while the car is running and feed it through there.

actually you do it in the thick hose...the one going from the brake booster to the intake manifold...u circled the thin one

Does any one have pictures of like a before and after of the inside of an engine after seafoam has been used? I used to distrust it but the more i hear about it I wanna try it.

A before an after pic would be a long process. Even with the head off you would have to put the head back on, seafoam, pull it off again and inspect. Seafoam is good, but like they say if your engine is held together by carbon and sludge then of course its going to expose leaks.

OK Cool! So the thicker hose it is.
I guess it begind to stall out, I will plug the hose to prevent vacuum leak and keep the engine going.
(or get someone to slightly gas while it sucks it in).

I dont know how well it works on civics (or anything other than a mustang really)...but in my case, I couldn't have gotten the upper intake manifold cleaner, even by hand.

I used to removed the upper intake to clean out the carbon build up (builds up quick because of the PCV design on the mustang). I did it once by removing the upper intake and cleaning it with TB cleaner and a bottle brush...it got decent clean and I did feel an improvment in the smoothness of acceleration (I dont mean more power...jsut smoother acceleration).

Anyway...... A year later...it was time to clean it up again. This time I seafoamed it with 1/3 of the can as instructed. Just to make sure, i removed the upper intake and my god. Was it ever sparkling! It did a way better job than what I did by hand + card cleaner!

Again...i dont know if this applied to civics..but it did well on the stang (90k on it). And I dont know how well it claened deeper into the engine because I never dug that deep!

Thanks again for all the help. I'm going to try it out tonight!

Sure it does, if you use 3 cans of it. Any detergent or additive can do that.
