depending on alot of factors this car is anywhere from 10.80 - to a 10.0 car on a tire. what heads are on there? ported ? spacer? size tire? what bore stroke? the more he has the range i gave will decrease into a faster time. thats a big motor for a malibu! i like it!

1967 malibu is my street car i think is one beautiful ride.

we have a 56&55 belair with a 383 big tire and a th400. we go deep into the 10's with it. 150 direct port as well. 11.8 on the motor all day bracket car

a 454 1970 ss is a 13.9 second car, so im guessing he isnt musch faster than that, it had about the same compression ratio also

If that car goes anywhere near the 10s my stock crx goes 11s.

1. 14" street tires = gay
2. Edelbrock carb = Junk
3. Stock heads milled a little, sounds like oval port heads = Junk
4. 71 bu isn't exactly light.

Having no rear shocks and autozone gauges makes me feel even more like the car's a 14-15 second turd.

Honestly I doubt the car will get out of the 14s.

Sounds like a beater motor. Big inches doesn't mean fast

LOL.

I doubt that turd will hook if it doesn't even have shocks. Bouncin' down the 1320'.

Is this guy a hillbilly by chance?

Also, I looked into the heads. They are an oval port...They're one of the better power producing oval port heads, but they still really need bigger valves and head work to make any 'good' power.

I ran a 6.5 8th mile in our old 454 we ran old closed chambered heads but had a compression of 13:1. a 454 done right should be a solid 10 sec all motor car no problems. the 572 we run now on the other hand i was on a 6.0 8th mile on motor foot braking the car stalling around 1800rpm with the launch with a 1.27 60 foot. This year its on the trans brake and a 200 shot should be good enough for high 8's in the qr

what year was the suburban? the TPI trucks have whats called "peanut ports" because the intake ports are so small. and those heads suck!

if he is running street tires like you said (depending on dot drag radials or normal every day street tires) id say any where from a high 11 (his suspension sucks) to low 12 to a mid 13 sec car. that all depends on his tire combo.

In the 70's my dad had a 69 maro with a stock 454 big block in it and it ran 11.0's. and in a 70's Monte Carlro it went 11.5's and these car where used to drive us to school.

With a big block it doesnt take much to make a car run if you know what your doing.

Full interior, full weight... no real headwork on the truck heads, unknown stall, no power adder, street tire, junk carb, weak cam... I give it a mid 13's pass if he gets a good hole shot.

Hell the 1970 chevy chevelle (right before the emissions killed the muscle cars) with the higher output 454 (450hp/ 500 ft lbs. LS6) was only trapping 105 or slightly better and running mid- low 13's on a street tire. I honestly dont see that setup listed above as even being equal to this... the 454 from 1970 was higher compression (11:1 approx.), with much better flowing heads/ intake, solid roller cam, etc. Yeah the spruced up truck motor is nothing special imo.

The motor described above does not strike me as anything that will make decent power... sound cool, good cruiser motor, and look good yeah it will do that, for track duty it needs work.

stock 454 from what?... cause there was no 454 offered in a 69 camaro.

Also your 100% right it does not take much for a big block to run hard if you know what your doing, but from the looks of the parts list and 454 above... knowing what your doing escaped this person.

That fogger looks like it might run a little lean if you spray it.
