d16 y7 with a b16 ecu
I heard this is possible, and its worth it. I've never done ecu work so would i just cut wires and splice in wires from the b16 ecu or do they not have the sme wire colors?

D16Y7 uses a 3 wire IAC. B16 has a 2 wire. So your car wont idle if you use a B16 ecu. Plus you'll have a knock sensor check engine light, and a VTEC check engine light. Sorry.

What you can do is run a d16Y7 with an LS computer, it has a better fuel map, made for a 1.8liter, but its putting that in your 1.6. Friends Y7 hatch ran a 15.8 1\4mile with the P72 (Ls ecu)
Edit: Im not clear if its P72 or 75 thats the LS, i know ones GSR and ones LS, i forgot.

Is it inhaling a giant amount of air? Or just stock?

sorry, brozef, but there's no ecu that you can put to use on that motor unless you chip your original one. You can get more substantial gains from something else. For the price of a chipped ECU, you can pick up a used D16Y8. My friend just bought one as a replacement for $225 since he wants to sell his car. That puts you at like 21 more hp. Although, you might have to pay someone to install it if you dont know what you're doing. Or you could use my instructional:
1.) remove
2.) replace
3.) enjoy
lol I can say that after doing like 10 or more motor swaps on several different cars with several different motor combinations, the D16Y7 to Y8 swap is really that easy.
ECU swaps dont usually have substantial gains even on B series...unless you've got parts to support the extra fuel. They have more agressive ignition curves, though. Anyway....sorry there's nothing you can do as far as ECUs due to your 3 wire IAC. Unless you wanted to do a D16Y8 manifold swap...and a D16Y8 ecu, although you'd have a CEL for vtec and knock. You could solve that with an OBD1 conversion and a D15B7 non vtec usdm ecu. But then you're talking more money than its worth.

iv herd the same thing and that is has a higher rev lim. im in the prosses of doing a dpfi to mpfi and a vtec head and that a b16 ecu will work but it might run a little lean

the D16Y7 is not dpfi. It is a Sequentially fuel injected multi port motor with 4 injectors. 1 for each cylinder. It just has a central throttle body, thats all. It is not a TBI motor either. The injectors are in the intake manifold runners (obviously).

WTF.
No, there's no magic ECU that will make your d-series amazingly fast. To get more power you need more fuel and more air in respective ratios.
I don't care even if Steve Nash tuned your car, it's not magic.
