Christ on a crutch can no one think for themselves?

I was guilty of the same thing when i was new to the scene. So I can't gripe too much.

RESEARCH!!! Find out what fit's your budget/driving style/skill.

I want to go h2b because It's not that common and i don't have to rev to 9,000 rpms to get power. It's also got a lot of torque (for a 4 banger) which makes for a good track car.

All depends on what you want to do with it and gow much time/money you have.

/thread.

I know,, nothing ceases to amaze me. I recently saw an ad for some hair-dryer/turbine devise that you put into the tail pipe.

Oh yeah,, that is where horsepower is developed!

Boosted D series are relativly cheap, and put down some decent and fun power.

But you really cant match that up with a boosted B series!

Now on an economical side of this coin -I was talking to a well know engine guru (one that used to have his own UBB but bailed on it because it was like baby-sitting, he said) on the phone last week,,

and he said that he knew of a friend that was running a turbocharged D16Z6 with 11:1 compression with 285horse and was getting 38 in city/50 highway.

Now there is a perfect balance for these times of high fuel costs. P/W ratio of 8.5 and still gets 50 on the highway. Nice.

I wouldn't believe it for a minute.

Maybe if he was running really low amounts of boost he might get a mpg increase.

but pushing in that much air demands more fuel.

There's no logical way for him to have so much bettr mpg.

This is a good setup...they just finished the mounts for the H2B setup for EK's.

Ek forever guy, yeah, well, normally I wouldn't believe most people that would blurt out words like that, but since you didn't figure it out WHO the person was I will tell you, it was Larry Widmer of Endyn. And if he said that,, I would tend to believe him over normal logic and reason. It seemed a bit out landish to me, but that was the topic of our conversation -

My dilemma; wanting to have decent performance but NOT wanting to lose the gas mileage. Q; Was/Is there a way to get good or better horsepower but not sacrifice mileage or better yet could mileage be better than stock?

You did hit the nail on the head with smaller boost numbers, but the pencil is just touching the paper at this time between myself and him, so we shall see where it all lands.

You have no Idea how excited that makes me.

h22's in eg's bone stock with a good o2 sensor and a tune up get ~30mpg

And most of the eg guys that have the h2b setups are breaking below 13's

wut motor do you haveright now? if you have a d16 the boost that, but build it too.
if you have a d15 or something and you have enough money get a b16 and build that too(stock high compresion), not good for turbo. if you leave it stock and turbo it you'll get the HP but not the torque.
