OK, my car is a 90 STD hatch with an OBD-0 B16 and I'm using an Avid Racing shift linkage with knockof Hasport mounts. The problem is that when I'm shifting gears it feels like it wants to pop out of gear (it feels like the shifter is pushing back), but it doesn't pop out. When you shift into gear and take your hand off the shifter you can see it pop back out but it stays in gear. There is also a slight whining noise coming from the transmission and every time I shift when I'm moving there is a "clunking" noise after I let the clutch out. I put the car on a lift and made sure all the bolts were tight and they all were and all the bushings seem to be fine from a visual standpoint. I would have had time to take it all apart but I didn't have time. Any suggestions/ideas?

 

Are you using a stock shift lever? Or a short throw?

 

Stock DA shifter.

 

is it a new clutch? cause sometimes new clutch do that when you let the pedal out fast they clunk..did you install the clutch your self?

 

No the clutch has already been broken in.
