easy fix or a headache?
I have an 89 crx si 5 speed, when the clutch pedal is not pushed in theres a clicking sound but when i press the clutch pedal the noise goes away.
A couple people said that it is the throwout bearing, is that hard to replace??

it is the throwout bearing and if you have to replace that, save up some cashbecause you will have to take the trans out. while your at it change the clutch and resurface the flywheel. but if it makes noise, you still have a while before it goes out buddy. ive seen people go a couple YEARS with a noise in the beginning. up to you.
Could be the input shaft bearing. Not as easy as a throwout bearing to fix. Input shaft bearings tend to make a rough scraping sound when the car is in neutral and your foot is off the clutch. Pressing the clutch pedal makes the sound go away. I've had loud input shaft bearings on a few of my Hondas, but I never had one fail.
By the way, if it fails, it will allow oil from the tranny to leak onto the clutch, which will then start to slip badly.

I have the EXACT same problem with my 90 civic Si. Nice to hear that it will (can?) last a few years before completely going. the car only has 260,000km's on it and I wanna make it to 300,000 before I do any big repairs...

you act like pulling a transmission in a honda is difficult and expensive. it takes me 30-45 minutes to change a clutch in my garage.
