With Endyne Piston I have run 12.7 - 1 for over a year with no problems. The timming was at 17 deg , anything over that it would ping. Tuning is very important!

Hehe...if he ran that high cr im sure he's not boosted. Thats an all motor madness recipe. 13:1 CR and some toda spec c's....
