Default differential fell??

I took both the axles out of my 89 crx in order to remove my engine and now i cant get my passenger side axle to go all the way into the transmission. My father tells me my differential may have fell, wen i look into the tranny i see a metal rod behind where the axle goes in. Does it sound liek my differential fell? If so wat can I do to fix it?

If you see the metal rod, that's the diff pin. Turn the other axle and it should rotate around... perfectly normal.

Check the snap ring on the axle and make sure its ok, then try again.

i really dont think differentials fall in hondas. ive literally thrown trannys around and axles would still go in. you just gota sorta hammer it in cause that spring clip thing on the end.

make sure its the wright axle and then check the c clip and make sure the open end is facing down and hit it in with a rubber mallet.

They can fight you a little bit. The inner cv joint allows for some in-out movement, what I do is extend it so it's full out, slide it in by holding it by the cv joint and then push the axle in with force. Usually that little bit of sliding will pop it right in. Might have to try it a few times. I had an axle fight me for about 15 minutes before it went in.

Be sure you're pushing as straight as possible. Pull your spindle off if you can, it'll give you a nice straightshot.

...and don't forget to slap a little hard grease on that ring and try to center it or you will be FOREVER trying to get your axle back in, I learned the hard way.

griz make sure the axle is PERFECTLY straight in the
trans. the c-clip on the end of the axle shaft is meant to go in with a very snug fit. also use the outer axle and use the momentum to ram in the inside of the axle. like a slide hammer. also kinda twist the axle in the trans to make sure the splines have lined up correctly. hope this helps.
