86 honda accord smog failed C.O. really high at 2000rpm.
The C.O. was at 2.6 at around 2000 rpm and virtually nothing at idle. H.C.'s are just fine. Gave it a tune up and did not help. Car seems to be running a bit lean. For some reason idle is faster than usual (around 1200 rpm) Anyone have any ideas where to start? thanks a bunch.
CO is caused by poor combustion. So anything can do it almost.
Timing not at spec. Distributor advance not advancing. I would check this first!!!!
Check out your EGR valve and solenoid for proper vacuum and EGR valve movement.
O2 sensor if you feel that it is running lean. Can cause CO too.
Vacuum leaks can cause a lean condition which in turn can cause CO.
Carbon build-up on backs of valves not letting in the right amount of air.
Fuel pressure regulator. If you are running higher, or lower pressure can effect CO also.
Old gas or additives can cause CO too.
You have some work to do and these are known problems with the Accord.
