07 Gixxer 600, will i be disapointed?
iv been lookin at some new bikes, im hopefully goin to be trading my 03 R1 tommarow, and was thinkin i might get into another bike
and i was out the other day and stopped at my local bike shop and they had a red/white 07 gixxer 600, and i fell in love i really like the red/white
now i keep hearing how the new 600s are supposed to have more power and be faster
and with my r1 i didnt really haul *** down the highways or straght line stuff, i always go riding on the backroads by my house
only thing im worried about is, am i spoiled by the torque of my R1, will i not like the 600, will i get bored with it
i think the excellent handleing with be great, but will the power be lacking
also im a pretty big guy also, im bout 6 foot almost 6 1, bout 270, i was pretty comfortable on my r1, i was also worried the 600 will be smaller and more cramped an wont be comfortable
i dunno what to do , none of the new bike really catch my eye like my r1 did when i bought it new

while you'll be impressed by the 07 gsxr 600 for being a 600, it cant compare to the r1, even if it was a 2003. now the 07 750 is a different story...

I think you'll be disappointed with the straight line power...turns are a different story. But if I had to make the decision between suzy q's I'd definately go with the 750. More hp, about the same weight (if not the same), more torque, and still handles close to the 600.
I think you should get the 750
How fast do you ride on public roads anyway?
A lot of people go from 1 liter bikes to 600 cc bikes and never look back though...you may just be that person.

you definetely shouldnt get another 600. you WILL notice the loss of torque, you will be rowing through the gears all day long on a 600. sorry but im assuming its a typo.....6 foot 270 or 170? cause if its 270 then your either REALLY muscular or very portly.
Keep your R1, The riding which you talk about, you will like it a lot more.

It's going to be a different type of riding going from the R1 to a new 600. Your corner speeds will likely be higher if you ride it like its meant to be ridden.
What's wrong with the R1?

I wouldnt get a Gixxer. Overall quality is not as good as the other brands (almost any of the other sportbike brands out there - Yamaha, Kawi, Honda)
I've seen this first hand with a friend that bought a Gsxr 750 brand new in 07. It's back in the shop two times so far;
1. gear indicator sensor
2. clutch problems
Honda RR is one of the best 600's for 07. My second choice would be R6.
Look it up.

With any brand, there will be problems - especially with new model bikes.
Suzuki isn't the only one with issues:
Yamaha recalled 13,000 2006 R6's in 2006.
Kawasaki's new ZX6R has a valve tappet problem.

My impression is that Suzukis are better put-together than any bike out there aside from Hondas (and maybe Ducs).
To the OP - I wouldn't have a problem getting a GSX-R 600, unless you are addicted to the power of your R1. It sounds like you just want something new...in which case the Gix will be fine.
However, it's a great bike for smaller guys. I can flat-foot a new Gix and I am 5'6". Bear that in mind when checking it out.
Why do you hate your Prelude?

and im not ever sure im gonna get another one right away

I personally would never step down to 600 for the STREET. Track is a different story. I have nothing against 600's just for the street i prefer the 900+

Damn deja vu
I just posted in another thread, 600cc is more than enough regardless of what kind of riding you do.
As far as your size... I'm 6ft 200lbs and a 600 has more power than I will ever need. Not sure how an extra 70lbs would effect it though.
And about the Suzuki thing... they are not any more or less reliable than kawi/yamaha. There are some lemons out there just like anything else. No the gsxr600 isn't the "fastest" bike this year according to all the mags. Don't be another squid who buys a certain bike because it wins all the shootouts, go sit on them all (or ride if you can) and get the one that looks/feels the best to you. If anyone gives you **** (believe me a gixxer is a magnet for that) just brush it off, I have not met ONE good rider who criticizes anybody on their choice of bikes... speed is inversely proportional to the amount of **** you talk
