hi everyone.

well i once met a gy who had very bright HIDS. and when i asked him how he did this. he said something about junkyard HID's and allot of work

would anyone here know what he meant. .

 

Yep's he did a Retro fit. Search around and you'll find it. Thats what im planning on doing cus Plug n Play HID kit looks like **** on a stock housing.

They look fine in some vehicles, like those that came with a projector housing but were fitted with halogens.

I've seen them work great and have a good cutoff on dc2's.

It's really a matter of perspective. The drop-in kits I've seen in Integra halogen projectors, while not producing tremendous glare, still had very pronounced hot spots and were lacking in depth and dispersion. This isn't a fault of the halogen housings, it's simply due to the fact that they're designed to make the most of the relatively low output of the halogen bulbs.

Yep, but definately much better than an oem eg/ej housing. Those are ridiculous.

Agreed, the results using a drop-in kit with those housings are quite poor.

 

I'm going to be running TYC one piece projectors in my EG with a 6000K Philips HID kit. TYCs are the only aftermarket projector that can accomadate an HID kit and not degrade its quality.

I saw a guy do that once, the cutoff was great. Looked very clean.

i think projectors look fine in an eg, especially with a black housing.

But in an ek i've yet to see a projector I've liked. Even a retro fit.

I'm just going to stick with my hella-badass phillips halogens in my ek/ej6

Yeah I'm going with the black housing ones on a black EG. I had knock off projectors but they were never anything more than a cosmetic upgrade. The lighting and visibility with them sucks, so TYC here I come.

 

A guy posted a thread a while back about using the tyc headlights with hid plug and play, it was sick.

This isn't very true. I'm sure you can find a H1 or H3 HID bulbs to stick in there, but the difference in length and focal point between those bulbs compared to a D2S, which is the OEM hid bulb is very different.
