Default Changing front wheel bearings, shop wants almost $100, rather DIY

Here is a link to a post with lots of pics on removing wheel bearings but they run into some problems along the way.

Now I figure I can get about as far as these guys did a few years ago. The machine shop out here wants 90 to put in new front wheel bearings and I think thats too expensive, but I might have no choice, just like the people in this post above.

What else could be done to remove the race and the rest of the original bearing? What about a torch? If they just torched the hell out of the race would it just fall off? Same goes with the bearing, if they just torched the knuckle would they be able to pound it out with a hammer?

I would spend 30 dollars on a torch but I cant afford to buy a 20 ton press from harbor freight. But I would rather find out if I am fighting a losing battle, if thats the case I will just cave in and pay.

Assuming someone here has done this successfully, what is the next step, heat it up some more and tap in the new bearing? Or will I just have to throw in the towel like these guys and go to the shop

ive seen a tech at my honda dealership do a front wheel bearing b4..the way he got the outter race out was by using a die grinder or wheel cutter wutever you want to call it...he used it to make a notch on the outter race and used a hammer and chizzle to hit it out

Yeah I think I read that somewhere as well, but I dont trust myself grinding anything away, I would probably damage the hub somehow.

Then again....would I be able to use the black dremel cutting/grinding wheel? If so, I fell pretty confident at grinding things with that. That could work.
