Default Transmission Q's.

Ok, so my tranny is going out now on my d15z1. It wont stop leaking oil out the fill bolt no matter how tight I tighten it, it won't stop making high pitched winding/whining noises in first gear, and poping out of 2nd gear when i let off the gas, So I'm gonna buy my friend's CRX's d15b2 tranny from him for 80 bucks. I'm wondering what is the easiest way to do the tranny swap?

Thanks in advance.

well try finding a good tranny bro...once you find it i'd pick up a new slavy cylinder and axle seals...doing this will save you in the long run trust me...total cost of the two is $30 at the most...

As for installing it i'd recommend having at least 1 person helping you out (the more the better) and having a air compressor with a air gun. Having these two things will make the job go alot easier. I'd also get a new clutch too...stay away from the exedy OE clutch though, i've got it on my y8 tranny and clutch pedal is very soft. This is only for D-series trannys not B's. Lastly before bolting the tranny up to the motor, check if the clutch is bolted up correctly.

Thanks a lot for the advice. At first I thought I had a bad slave cyl. before my tranny went so I was also going to replace anyway when i did the tranny.

I really don't have that much money so I think I'll just do the tranny, axel seals, and slave cyl. for right now, because I'm going to swap for another motor in the future anyway so I'll be pulling it out later when I actually have some money.

if your clutch is still okay then at least resurface your flywheel and pressure plate....
