Default so cali transmission mechanic?

one of my friends called tonight and it sounds like she's got transmission problems (revs going up with no power, its an automatic, 94 civic). I told her since she's got 140k on the odo i figured it could be a tranny problem.

can anyone recommend a decent honda mechanic in the oc or better yet irvine area? how much does a swap usually run? i'm thinking since its a pretty common year the mechanic could get a used one from japan and do the swap, rebuilt ones cost a grip from what i remember.

I did. It took me 3 hours start to finish. And that was in the drive way.
