just test drove an AP1 s2k i am thinking of buying.. a quick question about it..
is it normal for it to have lil white/grey smoke when turned on and sat idle for about 5 mins, then rev'd, i saw some smoke and lil Water or something coming out of exhaust a little.. i doubt it was condensation due to car just being driven prior to me meeting him up..
its an 03 AP1 100% stock /w 46k milage 3rd owner
also i test drove it, dsnt feel as fast as my Turbo integra which was dyno'd at 215 WHP.. dunno if it's just smoother but i dunno..
but main question is, is it normal / healthy to see it have that "water" if it is water dunno and grey smoke.. it dsnt just sit there, it evaporates so its not that bad.
and how much would Registration be if i baught the car for 20k?
thanks
edit: didnt buy this s2k, got a diff one

your best thing to do is move on, find another one. some people may say this is okay, but at idle, you shouldnt see any smoke. my old 03 w/49k miles put off some smoke in the higher revs(normal on ap1's), but not at idle. dont take any chances.

well it wasnt really at idle, it was after i asked him to Rev it, then i saw some smoke, and a little continued after, but after a test drive, then looked at the back, no more smoke at idle but didnt rev it to test it again.

If its white smoke, your good. When i had my ap1 exhaust there was water (condensation) and white smoke (evaporation)

ic, just wondering how water could already get in the system when the car had only been siting for about 30 mins tops

how was the weather ourside? on the colder side? it wouldnt scare me. that seems normal. also, 215 whp in an integra IS faster than an s. So you are right about that. oh..and only 215whp on a turbo b series?

weather was average, about 65 degree's.. it was around 7:00 PM san diego weather /time.
well it was 6 Pounds on a bone stock LS. but i believe its a lil more then 215 WHP b/c i got it tuned on 14 year old spark plugs and wires and etc (motor came straight from 1990 in Japan)
ive raced many S's modified /w I/H/E and always seem to get em good..but i did always race at night on cold wheater..
guess the motor is fine & healthy.. maybe im just overanalyzing stuff or had too high of expectations.
i guess i just thought NA would be faster then FI if it was suppose to be around the same #'s, or i just thought maybe RWD would make it feel diff, maybe i was expecting too much,

ic, didnt know it was just basic sales tax for registration. b/c i baught an integra before and put 500$ and only paid 100$.. so i didnt think it was .775% but thanks 4 the information

I think for these conditions you're probably fine, but just so you know, the cat will turn harmful emissions into H2O while driving, and the stock exhaust is bound to trap a little bit of it due to design, and as you drive the car it will come out the back. So when he revved the engine for you, you probably saw water that was trapped come out, and of course with the heat of the exhaust comming from the engine, it's going to boil some of the water and make steam.
Like I said, I think the car is fine, BUT if you have any doubts at all, get it to a shop and on a lift so you can look at the underside of the car to make sure it hasn't been wrecked or put a ditch, etc.
Good Luck and enjoy your slow *** S, if you buy it!

Test drive an ap2 aswell before you buy the ap1.
Not saying you'll like it or hate it, but how could you choose without trying out all the flavors?
