what do you think?
do you think a eg hatchback with a stock b18c1 gsr swap could beat a 350 z in a quarter mile?
and i also wanted to know how much seconds added to your time weight is.. liek
my friend said every 100 lbs adds a second to your time.. is this true?
thats why im second thinking about gettin an SI hatch. ive wanted an si hatch because it has all the upgrades like moonroof abs and power steering..
im a noob and i dont want to make a nother thread for these other questions i have so i was wondering if anyone will be gangsta and answer them for me.
why do people take out their ABS? isnt having ABS a good thing?? like good for safety and things? why not have it?
and why do some people take out their power steering?
ive never driven without power steering on a car so im thinking that itd be super hard to turn the steering wheel?
notsure
thanks for the input!
it helps me a lot because im a noob.

people remove power steering for weight saving, some do it to have a cleaner looking bay. you can always get a manual rack from a car that had no power steering so it wont be that bad. with abs i think because some upgrades on brakes dont work properly with abs,not too sure though. it coukd be to have less issues to deal with. i think the hatch might keep up though.

ANY MORE!?!?
and im guessing your joking or your meaning that it takes off weight
but one more question to those eg owners...
do you think i should go for the si cuz i love the extra features
or do you think the weight difference is pretty bad and i should go for the cx/vx/dx?
keep the posts coming
information is great.

if weight is an issue get a vx. it's the lightest of them all.
turning the wheel isnt very hard without ps once the car gets moving even a little bit. even at a standstill it's not very hard. you probably wont be able to turn the wheel with one hand but it's still easy once you get used to it.

weight savigns not a big issue to me i was just wondering if its a really big difference
my friend said every 100 pounds adds a second on the 1/4 mile and that freaked me out
i knew my car would bi 250 lbs more than a cx/vx but i didnt think it would add that much time
is this correct?

General rule of thumb is every 100 lbs is .10 seconds off your 1/4 mile.
But honestly, all those systems (a/c, p/s, etc.) will probably only save you a hundred lbs, if that. If you're really picky about the "100 lbs for every .10 second" rule, then sure go for a CX/VX (they're the lightest 5th gen hatch @ around 2000lbs).
People remove ABS because ABS sucks, in any car. I've tried enabling ABS in my brothers 07 civic sedan and it sucks ***. Does nothing in the snow even with snow tires. Manual pump braking is much more efficient.
People remove P/S to clean up the bay and because they can live without p/s. It's not as bad as you would think. Sure it'll probably get tiring, especially with city driving and such, but for a track car and such, p/s isn't too important.

if 100lbs = 1 second, every time I take a **** id drop 1/10th in the quater mile
no way. Im a weight ****, i date anorexic girls too. 100 hp might = a second, not 100 lbs. people remove power steering because of the parasitic drag on the engine due to the pump being driven off of the crank pulley. ABS can be a hassle. and for those who pump the brakes anyways, it makes braking worse. the cx is super light, mine only has one side view mirror, and only has an 8.9 gal tank

more are appreciated even though most things have been covered
but im 15 and i'll be getting my car in december and i just want to kno w alot more about honda civic hatchback eg's before i buy mine
and i will take it to the track when i want to race because im against street racing but as long as the si will not make me that much slower than a cx/dx/vx than im happy with it and having the sun roof.
and if u guys think that abs is bad dthen i will take it off but is it a lot of work to take it out?
or do you think its worth it for me if im a teenager having this car as a daily driver?
