Default DIY tire dismount

Anybody know how to separate a tire from the rim using basic hand tools?

i saw a portable tire changer at harbor freight. i would use it to just remove tires though

hand tools are a pain... well, at least for me.

It typically costs $10-20 at a tire shop or other mechanic to get a tire replaced, including mounting and balancing.

If you're just getting the tire removed from the rim, it should cost less than that. If it's a place you already do business with, they might even do it for free. And they are a whole lot less likely to damage your rims in the process.

Just take it to the pros.
