2004 4dr EX makes a loud popping sound when turning into a driveway
My sisters 2004 4dr ex makes a loud popping sound when she turns into a driveway. The sound is coming from the right rear suspension.
I pulled everything out of the trunk to eliminate the chance of anything rolling around and making a noise.
I also removed the right rear wheel and visually checked the suspension for loose hardware. I also grabbed the parts and tried to shake them to see if any were loose.
Car is 100% stock and still under warranty. She just want to know what the hell is up before she takes it in.
Anyone else experience this problem?

Might be a CV axle, but that would be in the front. Tell her to turn her steering wheel ALL the way to the right and slowly drive in circles so you can better tell where its coming from. Then do it the same to the left. If its an axle, it will sound like CLICK adeeclick adeeclick . Lol hope i helped.
It's for sure in the back.
I sat in the back seat with one side of it folded down. When I put my hand on the fender well I was able to feel a slight thump when she pulled into my driveway.
I also walked next to the back wheel while she pulled into the drive way and the sound is audible from outside the car too.
The bearing could be the problem. But nothing is loose. So I have no definite way of telling right now.
She said both sides are doing it now. It sounds like a skateboard is rolling around in the trunk. Only when pulling into a driveway though.

very unlikely that its the wheel bearing. especially both of them going. i'm going to lean towards it being a strut. the noise you are describing is what i normally hear on a blown strut. if its still under warranty, let them deal with it anyways!!
hope it works out for you

So I figured out that it only makes the noise if someone is in the back seat. If it is just me alone in the car it doesn't do it.
hmm same happens with me except its coming from the frontt, everytime i turn the wheel all the way and go in reverse it knocks only once tho. suspension is completly stock but i no that my front left strut is blown pretty bad and my back 2 are pretty bad too. i wanna know what this is before i get my suspension.
