No, let me look up the info I posted on here before, there are two different spline counts. I can't remember if it was the 88 or the 89. Other than that, so long as you use the same year clutch, you'll have no problems.

Ok, 88 all models had a 21 Spline input shaft, which is what I personally have.
89,90,and 91 all models had a 20 spline input shaft. I'm pretty sure that was the standard for all Ds up to 2000.
The 88-89 Flywheels have a 200mm clutch surface, and the 90+ has 212mm of clutch surface.
So you'll be needing to get the same year clutch and pressure plate...

lol, I've been a member for 5 years, I just don't post a lot. I'm more of the troll that watches in the background. Now I split my forum reading between here and a couple 240 forums. Either way though, I had the same problem with my 88 si trans. Personally I prefer the smaller 200mm clutch disc as it has less rotational mass. Not much, but enough to help her rev just a hair better. They also make custom 212 clutch discs for the 88 trans for those who feel that the -12mm has some sort of downfall in holding power.

i already knew about the 21 spline, we actually had to replace the clutch already but now the rear main seal leaks and we are going to replace the flywheel also now too, the thing is that we are also replaceing the clutch with a stage 3 clutch now and the company is telling me that i now need to upgrade to a 212mm flywheel from a 90+ d series trans...
oh, and there are no splines on a flywheel so that wouldnt really matter with that part, only the clutch part...

Never said that there was, I said that the clutch surface was smaller or larger depending on year, and that you need to get the proper flywheel for the clutch you're using. If you're still using the 89 transmission, your stock clutch and flywheel is of the 200mm size. If you get the 95 flywheel (Which will bolt right up), it's 212, so you'll need the matching clutch, and PP...
