I have a 99 si with a gsr block and b16 head. My car has been having a check engine light for O2 sensor so I had a new Honda one put in. Well the check engine light came back on the same night. I had it checked and the code is for O2 sensor again! Does anyone know why this could be or if there is something else that could be causing this to happen? Thanks.

 

You have 2 o2 sensors, are you sure you replaced the correct one?

 

Yes, I'm pretty sure the correct one was replaced. I had it done by my mechanic.

Had it checked at Autozone so I don't know the exact code. It said O2 sensor or car may be runninn lean or rich.

I already called the shop and let them know, but I would like to save myself some money if I can.

 

Like I said, you have 2, and without knowing which one was bad to begin with could be the problem - meaning they changed the wrong one.

Use the how-to at the top of the forum and check the code for yourself.

 

I know that the correct one was replaced. I did go ahead and check it myself though, and saw that it is indeed still throwing the code for the sensor that was replaced. That is why I am confused. I was wondering if this had ever happened to anyone else because I have no idea why it would be still coming on. Thought if someone else had something similar happen they could tell me what the problem ended up being.

so I guess when you have your O2 sensor replaced by a mechanic and the CEL stays on and the problem continues, he's a good mechanic

I dont need a mechanic to change a o2 sensor. You think a mechanic never makes a mistake? We simply asked how he knew the mechanic installed the correct one, you cant always go by what a mechanic says, if everyone did that people would be paying to have their Johnson rods and vtec fluid replaced. Stop posting in this thread before you make yourself look like anymore of a dumbass.

A scan tool says HEY DUMBASS SECONDARY O2 SENSOR IS SHOT

or hey PRIMARY IS FUCKED

apparently you never used a scan tool or even checked a DTC

He got it scanned at ******* autozone and they said it was a o2 sensor... he did'nt say they said it was a secondary o2 sensor he just made some vague statement that they said it was a o2 sensor...

It was the primary O2 sensor. The mechanic rechecked it himself because I only told him O2, not which one. I trust this mechanic somewhat because they have done a good amount of work on my car, always with no problems. That is why I am asking if anyone knows what could cause the CEL to come on saying O2 sensor if the sensor is good. Which, considering it is supposed to be brand new from Honda, it is good.

I found out today that it is a problem with my ecu. The O2 sensors are both working.
