You are getting "any gas" because you got on the throttle. Duh.

If you meant to say "isn't" instead of "is", then probably because ... well, it's an economy car, and it probably has a d15.

Are you keeping up with maintenance?

 

Do you hear the fuel pump hum when you first turn the key (cluster lights come on), prior to starting the car?

Let's see....fuel filter/fuel pump/injectors/fuel rail...theses are the basics to the gas flow system. I won't dive into electronics. Restate your question with more details please so that we may all be of some assistance.
