Someone ran into the back of me today and wants to pay for the damage. I can see some crumpling underneath so not sure.

yep, insurance info is recommended, but...the car will be considered total. The other insurance will pay at the most around 1900 to 2000 for the car. I have the same damage on my car and I am having a body shop repair the damage with new paint job. The value of our car is not that much anymore, that's how come it hurts when it get damaged and we spent some serious dollars to make it nice.

You're going to have a tough time getting any money out of it if the guy doesn't want to pay up. I'm assuming there is no police report.

Good luck.

The first quote I got for the work was over 2300 without any frame work... I figured it was totaled and told him that the damage was well over the value of the car. He asked me if I would take 2k and call it even. I am thinking of taking the 2k and letting someone else deal with the damage.
This was my commuter

The car is totaled.
There is frame damage that exceeds the cost of the vehicle.

Find a parts car and swap everything over..GL

Wow... I too got into an accident three days ago.

Got rear ended and waiting for the person at fault insurance company to cut me a check.

I never been in an accident before but how does someone's car become salvage? The damage wasn't devastating, so would my car be considered salvage? How does someone know their car is salvage and are their any fees to it?

You get a salvage title if your car gets badly totaled and you buy it back. Yours dosen't look bad at all. Acctually it looks exactly like mine, only my the bumper support is bent, looks like it's the same on yours unless it's worse on the other side.

u should just get some cash from the other guy and shop around at body shops. its not going to take much to pull that back to normal. and that way your car will still have a clean title. im pretty sure that shop quoted u that much because they was thinking it going thru an insurance or something. i seen worst before and it was still fixable

usually if the quarter is damaged the insurance company will consider it totaled... so u may get some $$ but if its worth more to fix then what the car is worth dont expect a lot of $$ from the insurance company

take the 2 grand but dont give up the car. try to find some trade schools around your area that do body work. i had a car straightened on a frame rack for $14 dollars an hour. well worth it and good work. then with the left over cash get some JDM parts

Dude, if I were you, I'd contact a lawyer, and then tax the **** out of him. You don't ever take someone's word for anything unless there is a record of this happening (ie. Police). If he F'ed up in the first place, I'd tax the DOG **** out of him.

get a lawyer deff. It might take a little longer to get it all settled but it will be well worth it. Their insurance will try to screw you over as much as they can

Damn, looks like $3000 in damage. Well to do it right and weld in a new panel without bondo crap. I dont know how it works in CA but I dont think the other guys insurance company can total your car. Only your insurance company can do that.
