Exhaust leak?
Alright, so I believe there is a tiny crack in two of my header pipes right where the flange and pipe meet. It is black around there (from carbon) and you can feel the sharp metal and it looks like it has come away from the flange.
Also, there is a tiny gap where the gasket is at....between the header flange and the engine block. Well, I shouldn't say gap....I should say that the header doesn't align exactly so you can see inside the block just a bit and the gasket seems torn or something.
But anyways....now that I've explained this a little bit, my question is this:
Will that make my engine sound like total ****? Will that make it to where when my car is winding down after you rev it up - it sounds really deep and like something is effed up on the inside?
I ask that because when I rev the engine and it is winding down, the engine sounds horrible....and I know if you have an exhaust leak in the pipe or something, it sounds really deep coming out of the exhaust. But since this is right at the engine........anyone know?

Maybe I should mention the ticking I hear as well. I was thinking it could be a belt that needs tightening.....but then again, I guess that could indicate the exhaust leak.
I'm not asking IF I have an exhaust leak....I'm asking if it could cause that noise and everything. I'm going to get the gasket replaced and the header re-welded by this weekend.

the gap your talking about that makes it look like your headers arent aligned right is normal..thats supposed to be there...why..I dont know but it is..i saw a thread a while back about it cuz a guy was worried about it..mine are the same way...other than that get your headers welded and see what happens then that would definently cause some problems
That is strange that the gap is supposed to be there. I never noticed it until I started looking at the header to see the crack in the pipes. So you think the cracks would cause sounds like that? It is in 2 of the pipes....so I guess double trouble.
It is very loud....and it bogs down at times. But the thing I'm asking myself is would just two tiny cracks like that cause all of that? I guess it's not too far beyond belief.

yes it would..the tiniest little opening like that..or if you dont have your bolts tight enough or something of that nature can cause your car to be so loud...its very strange lol
