Default My 95 accord needs your help

Okay, I am the first to admit I am a noob at the import scene. I know a bit but not a lot. I need some advice on what to do with my 95 accord.

I have started threads in the past about if I should turbo it but that is out of my price range considering the engine rebuild I would need on my 160k engine to get it ready for turbo. So, what can/should I do to my car on a some what strict budget? It's my daily driver so I only want to get to like 200-250hp. I was gonna put money into wheels and tires but then I thought i should do hp gains first then worry about asthetics later. Any advice is appreciated.

If you cant turn to honda-tech then who can you turn to???????

Well how strict is your budget? Honestly, to get to your projected 200-250 hp, its going to cost quite a bit. I would start off with suspension and wheels. Then if you have money later, turbo it to get to your horsepower goal.

id rebuild your bottom end(main/rod bearings, oil pickup, Low comp. pistons, rings, gaskets) and top end (Valve grind, mabye get it ported?,cam bearings, after market camshaft w/ springs and retiners) and your motor will thank you once you boost it.

But if i were you id swap a h22 into it or at east a h23/f22b dohc non-vtec.

Also, doesnt the H22 have less hp than my f22? Why is a H22 a hot choice for an accord swap?

a full rebuild like that will cost thousands lol...and h22 swap..depending on which one you get can run 1,000-2,500 depending on if its JDM USDM and how many miles it costs...and thats just for the motor

If you only have 700 bucks id go with the h23/f22b (jdm prelude si) DOHC Non-V-tec swap. You can find the motors for 5-700 bucks and they bolt up to your f series tranny and use the same mounts. All you need is a ecu, exhaust mani./header and if you have a jdm f22b you need to swap the internal dizzy with an external one.

O, there 160 hp stock and their iron sleeved not FIM sleeved h22. + Boost?

reaching your goal of 200-250 horsepower on a tight budget probably isnt going to happen..also adding an intake headers and exhaust isnt going to come close to doing anything like that either...so If i were you id start out slow..just start buying parts for the rebuild as you get the money..set them in your garage or something and wait till you get all the parts...and do it all at once...once you have that accomplished run the turbo and you will be pushin over your 200-250 mark easy!..just take it slow..when your on a tight budget rebuilding and turboing can take a long *** time but it'll be worth it in the end

Diggin the advice, keep it comin yall.

Would, it be good to do the basics; headers, exhaust, intake first? would that be a step in the right direction or, a waste of money in the long run?

If i were you i would do a H22 swap. I did it on my 94 lx and it turned out great!!! I spend about 2500 on everything motor, tranny, ecu, axels, after market mounts, and all the wonderful little stuff!!! I turboed my f22b2 and it was fun hearing the turbo spool up and then hearing that blow off valve but to me it wasnt worth it. My motor threw a rod and besides it feels like my h22 is much faster than my turboed f22. So take it from someone who has been there and done that.......do the swap.

headers intake and exhaust are a waste of money unless your not planning on turboing the car..because if you turbo it you wont need the headers or intake..and you'll probably wont a bigger exhaust system...so if your planning on turbo in the future dont waste your money on that crap..besides all of that adds maybe 20HP if that...an H22 swap is a good idea...but to turbo that beast youll have to sleeve it to run forged pistons unless your going to be running super low boost..and even then you'll eventually cause problems inside your motor...then again if your only looking for 200-250 HP..you could easily gain that with an h22 swap and some common simple bolt ons

Okay, so, in time H22 swap and then simple bolt ons.
nothing till then.
Maybe i will go on and get the wheels ant tires to suit it up for the eyeballs and then do a swap when i get the $$.
any other ideas or objections.

Also, about my quedtion.... is nt the h22 slower than my f22, should i get the h23 instead?

Hell no...your f22...which im not sure what model your car is but im guessing its an f22b1 which is SOHC Vtec motor...they have 145HP stock..the JDM h22a has a little over 200 i believe theres 2 different JDM ones so im not sure..an h23 block and h22 head is really good from what ive read...just incase you didnt know an h23 is a DOHC non-vtec motor im not sure on the HP numbers of that..id stick the the h22 and some simple bolt ons like headers, catback exhaust, good intake, good plugs and wires blah blah blah

With all the money that you are going to put in this car i'd sell accord and get a car that already has over 200hp stock - newer accord/acura or older Lexus SC400/300 or some bimmer. In the long run you are going to loose the money that you put in this accord, when it comes time to sell it it will be really hard to return your investment

I think i will just keep this one stock as my DD, and go find something else with more stock power.
