95 honda accord ex towing capacity?
does anyone know the towing capacity for the 95 accord ex's? I just bought a jet ski with a trailer, and I want to know how bad it's going to mess my accord up.. also, does anyone have a trailer hitch or know where to find one?
why would you want to tow something with your honda accord...get a truck if your going to be towing stuff..I wouldnt dare tow something with my accord..especially with an automatic tranny..just doesnt sound like a good idea to me...I dont know the capacity but i know its very small
yeah, I tow a stand-up ski around all the time. Mine's a 5 speed but it has a 8lb aluminum flywheel so it's fun sometimes!! I bought the hitch from JC Whitney for like 120 or something. It's a Hidden Hitch, fit well and is not an eyesore.
theres no problem with towing with automatic.
Just be sure to change your tranny fluid more often, and check your brakes.
A jetski and trailer is not more than a fully loaded car and trunk.
if the accord was never meant to tow, they wouldn't have put in a towing light harness in the rear from the factory
.
Just take it easy on it, drop it down into 1 when taking it out of the water, and if you want, add an auto tranny cooler.
You'll be fine.
Edit: ninja edit hehe

actually the plug for the harness is behind the driver side rear tail light.
OP etrailer.com has a hitch. total cost including hitch, ball, lock under $175. get the drawtite one as it bolts directly to the frame on each side where the tow hooks are. takes 15 mins tops to install.

well I have a 5 speed first of all, and all I'm towing a jet ski.. not a big deal, I was just wondering. It's a very small jet ski and pretty light trailor. I think the jet ski is a 1-2 seater. I can lift it up myself and move it around my driveway with not a lot of effort. I got a reese towing kit, around $180
On my '99 Accord I don't use a hitch but have carried a lot of stuff on the roof (Thule roof rack system).
Let's see, four 50# (and over) suitcases every year or two (a picture with the luggage is in my avatar), I've carried a queen size mattress and boxspring (in 0º F weather, interesting night), various pieces of small furniture, 6 foot ladder, etc. But no, a jetski would not fit up there.
