Just curious if anyone has a favorite or essential liquid gasket preference for the crank cap plates on both sides of the block (the two metal plates that hold the main crank oil seal gaskets etc...). The original is of a white color. Ive seen a "conversion" kit on various warehouse sites that employs a solid gasket but I doubt their integrity. Due to the torque ratings and location I am unsure if standard High Temp Silicon sealer is adequate for use here.


Any comments, ideas, or general tips are appreciated.

Hondabond?

I can't picture what it is you are doing though. Sounds like you referring to the bearing caps but I'm not sure. I didn't know they used liquid gasket there.

 

What you saw and what should only be used is Hondabond.

 

I always use permatex Ultrablack RTV high temp sealant, I have never had any problems.

 

Right stuff (Hondabond is overrated and is not made by honda)
