exhaust vibration in the rain....?
i was driving the other day in the rain and i went through a couple decent sized puddles all of a sudden i start getting these deep vibrations that sound like they`re comming from the exhaust the car also started feeling sluggish once i got onto the highway it went away but i was curious if anyone has experienced this? do u think i should be worried about this? i also have a short ram intake and my exhaust is a skunk 2 70mm....thnx in advance
I don't think this is the case but if somehow water got into your muffler lol. but it would eventually evaporate or rust out the muffler. i highly doubt it though. seems like you just had some fun in the rain, maybe the ABS went off or something and it vibrated. if it no longer does it, you should be okay.
I had the exact same problem man. There was a flash flood rain, and the roads were quite wet, to say the least. I instantly started having vibrations and then some rattling started at different RPMs - sounded like it was rattling against the body or a heat shield.
I've got the 70mm Skunk2 as well.
(and I had 3/4 of a tank of gas to answer Type X's question too)

yea i was also on an almost full tank...it happend twice the 1st time it was during that mansoon we had with all the flooding and then again the other day when it rained pretty good...
i dont get a vibration but sometimes i'll get a "high" idle if its sitting it will hang for a bit and i can pump the gas and its done.
I heard that someone had rattling with the skunk2 since he used theskunk2 bolts for it
and after going ABCK to OEM bolts.. it was gone. so when the shop popped mine on i told them i wanted the OEM bolts on the unit.

when the car was stopped and the vibration was happening i was getting a very low idle it felt like the car was about 2 shut off i tapped the gas a couple times to prevent that from happening....i do get a rattling from the exhaust i heard it was the hangers i havnt actually gone under the car and checked yet i`m gonna try to do that fix on 8th gen (grinding the hangers to eliminate them from rattling against the car body)

LMAO.. that's not nice

Yeah, it's not...at least not for me. I didn't get a low idle, but the exhaust was vibrating the car. I drove it today, and everything is A-OK any ways. I just think that the Skunk2's fitment is so tight, that a little water hitting it and cooling it off warped it a little so it was vibrating against the body/heat shields.
Oh, and I am using the bolts that Skunk2 sent with Type X - the stock bolts seemed too damn short to use. I'll have to re-visit that though....

This rattle seems to be common with the Skunk2... I never had an issue with my GReddy, but just the other day I was riding in my friends EP3 in the rain and it made a weird rattle under my seat.
From the evidence, it seems like this is common to Skunk2.

I was waiting to see a post like this, I get the SAME EXACT vibration / rubbing your describing in my eg. But only when its raining out. My friend has a DA and gets the same exact thing too. I just figured it was a honda thing -_-
Not sure what causes it, but I figured Id let you know your not alone

I'm not exactly sure why it would do that, other than maybe (I'm no expert here, going off of assumption and educated guesses) the thickness of the tubing and it's reaction to cold water being splashed on a hot exhaust system. Maybe Skunk2 just has a tendancy to tighten up and become more ridgid in that scenario.
Eh, maybe someone with a bit more experience can enlighten us rather than me just guessing...
