Default Technical Help Needed

Hi, I need some tech assistance for my engine swap on a 1997 Civic Hatch. It currently has the d15b engine in it and I am swaping it out for my b16a out of a 1994 or 1995 civic si. I need to know if the manual transmission out of a 1998 si will mount onto the earlier si engine. I have the ECU out of the 1998 si along with the complete wiring harness, and now its just a matter of mechanical compatibility. Can somebody please tell me if my 1998 tranny will fit the 1994/1995 motor, and if the mounts are different? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Um .....

There were no B16A's in 1994 and 1995 Si's.

The B16A didnt' come in an "Si" until 1999 in the USA (it was the SiR in canada). The transmission out of a 1998 would be a D16Y8 transmission, which would not fit on a B16A.

Ok, i'm new to the honda scene. but i know that this engine is from an si, as it says so on the tag (haha, i know... a little sketchy going by the tag). my apologies for the wrong engine i.d. the engine is pre-1997 tho and is a v-tec out of an si. i was told that the si's didn't change really through the mid to late 90's and that i shouldn't have any problem hooking the tranny out of the 1998 si up the the mid/early 90's si motor. the mounts are easy enough, but its the tranny bolting onto the motor that concerns me the most. do you have any tips or past experience with this? thanks for your quick reply

That's not a B16A then, it's a D16Z6 or a D16Y8.

So does this mean i'll have issues hooking up the 98's tranny to the D16Z6?

If they're both D-series, then you can do whatever you want. The transmissions are interchangeable.
