help help!!
mph doesnt work because your speedometer cable is either a) broken b) kinked or c) non existent. all three of those issues can be solved by buying a new speedo cable.
you fan is not working because, most likely, the fan switch on the back of the block stopped functioning correctly. the switch is located right next to the oil filter. just pull the plug off, take the switch out and put a new switch back in, and replug. another thing that could cause it is if your car is not warming up correctly, then your thermostat is probably bad. but i am going to assume that your car IS warming up correctly and thats why you asked about the fan.

I dont meen to step on any feet here, but the advice given was not all that great.
For your Speedo there are 3 main components. The gauge itself which includes the VSS, the cable, and the speedometer gear. It is highly unlikely that it is your speedometer gear. That piece is located inside the transmission. It is probable that a problem exists with your speedo cable, but it probably isnt kinked or broken. Usually your Speedometer gauge doesnt show a reading if the cable is not seated correctly into its housing on the transmission. There should be a clip that secures it in place so double check that it is properly seated and secured by the clip. Lastly the VSS could have gone bad in your gauge or the gauge itself may have failed. Typically you'll get a check engine light for VSS if the ECU is not seeing a pulse from the VSS. So be sure to check those parts before buying more parts and hoping they solve your problem.
For the radiator. It is also probable that your radiator fan switch is bad. Before buying a new one, you can check to make sure that the rest of the system works by removing the wire connector from the switch and using a jumper wire to short the two wires together. Your fan should come on at this point. If it doesnt, then your switch may be fine and your fan may have a problem. Either a problem with electrical supply or it may have failed itself.

yeah checking to see if the speedo cable is seated is a good thing to do. they do pop out. youll get a vss code if the vss isnt getting spun by the cable, even though it may still be good.

You basically just repeated what the guy said before you. And since when did a crx come with an electronic vss??? Since when was the cable driven speed hooked to the ecu? If it is this is a first for me...chances are it's not plugged in, or it's kinked, twisted. I had a twisted one before. You could unhook the cable from the back of the cluster and drive around and see if it spins. If not see if it's even plugged into the tranny. for the radiator, check the thermoswitch on the back. Might wnat to try to supply the fan with power directly from the battery tomake sure it even works.

And you just basically repeated what I said. I provided a little more information rather than just throwing parts at a problem we havent diagnosed.
CRX's have always come with an electronic VSS. It's the location you're not familiar with. How else would the ECU know what speed the car is going? You dont plug the speedo cable into the ECU do you? (I didnt). The VSS is built into the speedometer gauge. The rotating cable spins inside the electronic producing a pulse which is rendered on the speedo gauge as how fas you are travelling. There is also a supply wire that comes out of the VSS and runs to the ECU, so it knows how fast you are going.

Ok I get it, I had to reread what you typed a few times. Unless your throwing a code your vss is fine. i never knew there was a vss in the speedo. Just check your cable man and let us know..
