Removing Stock Air Inlet System
Can someone please be kind enough to provide either a detailed description of how to remove the stock air inlet system on a 99 Civic EX, or please provide a link to an illustrated description for the removal. I just bought an AEM Cold Air Intake System, and I've got the general idea of how to remove the stock system. I just don't want to go messing around with any wires that shouldn't be touched.
Thanks for your help!

It is not difficult at all, lust look at the stock setup....not siconnect the rubber hose from the intake manifold, unbolt the black box holding the air filter from the chasis and you are all set

Agreed. Just start taking stuff off. then turn the wheel all the way and pop off your fender lining / lower cover on the passenger side of the wheel and unbolt the box from the chassis.
Sweeet...it's what I had in mind, but as I was about to take off the box holding the air filter I noticed all the different tubes connected to it, and got kinda worried. Thanks a lot

There should be a place to hook all the tubes back up to the after market one as well. That is if you are referin to tha small diameter hose

These are the inside pics of the car. I took out the entire air inlet system and still couldn't get it to fit. Can you guys let me know what I'm missing. The stock air inlet system is the black parts:

Lookin at the IM that looks like a y7. you said the car was an EX?
There is screws on the bottam of that larger box. take them out
The whole thing should come out.
Now on the intake manifold there should be clips that kind of look like hose claps. pop them off.
From there the box with the filter in it should come right off of the intake manifold. unplug the sensor. and then start installing the aftermarket intake.

Thats exactly what I did, but, I don't know if I didn't do it properly, it wouldn't fit right. Maybe I should add a pic of the pieces I have. It's an AEM air intake for 96-2000 Honda Civic EX. It's one long tube and the filter with all the necessary clamps. But for some reason it doesn't fit properly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong tho.
I'll try it again tomorrow when I get home from work and see if I set it up wrong, maybe I did.
