I got into a accident today....

really dumb what i did but i learned my lesson, too pissed to give details but will later on. Anyways i was wondering if you get into a accident and it is your fault will the police or DMV be notified if you go through your insurance and will i get a point on my record if no police came to scene of the accident originally.

you are required by law to turn sr1 form to the dmv. i think your insurance will notify also.

 

has nothing to do with the police coming or not. You have to file an SR1 and the dmv will make a note on your record. I dont think you get a point though.

Been there -- Did not call insurance, because you can't, and you'll have a lot of explaning to do, the type that you aren't willing to do.

All you can do now is learn. Learn from you mistakes, and never make them again.

As seen above, I never did get to drive my baby again....

 

basically i was stopped at a red light then started moving without even looking up hit a car making a left hand turn from the opposite direction, not major damage no one was hurt. Will the DMW put a point on my record???

 

why would you go forward without looking up? doesn't make much sense to me...

if the accident wasn't incredibly bad, i'd just bite the bullet and pay for damages on y our car yourself. if it's so bad that you have to report it to your insurance, i'm sure they'll know whether or not you have to file the sr1 (or maybe they'll even do it for you?)

remember to look both sides before you cross the road son.

 

Accident = 2 pts on your record for 3 yrs AFAIK

its not the police report that you have to turn in.... its your side of the story... basically telling them what happen...

I think there is a dollar amount of damage before you're required to file w/DMV. They've changed it recently, it's been so long since I've worked for AAA claims services.
