went for quite a drive yesterday...
So my friend has a CBR 600RR and goes riding with a bunch of guys every Sunday. So since Im home and love to drive my 07 Si, I thought that I would go on a drive with them while my friend sat shotgun and took pics. I assumed that I would be lagging behind most of the day because the Kind of bikes that were there were 2 600RRs, 2 1000RRs, an R1, a Zx7, and a few others I cant remember. There were 2 guys that were rather experienced (I only saw them when we stopped for lunch and gas), 3 whove been riding for about 2 years (my friend included) and 3 mediocre riders.
The roads around here are mostly windy, mountain roads and highways that wind through countryside. Once traffic cleared up the last 3 guys let me by almost as fast as i passed the Focus wagon with 2 bikes on top. So I caught up to the 3 middle guys who were laying knee around almost every corner. This road was one of the most extreme Ive been on, there were about 4 turns i was going into at about 70 in full brake.
We come to one "15 mph" turn, so i slow down and my friend zips around on his 600RR. Turns out it was a 90 degree hairpin with about a 15 foot descent, so about halfway around the turn i see my friend sliding off the road in a cloud of dirt, so i stop to make sure hes ok. When we get out we see that all 4 brakes are smoking like a recently extinguished campfire... We checked the damage on the bike (all aesthetic) and let my car cool for about 20 min, then went on.
Overall, I was amazed with the abuse my car took over our 10 hrs on the road. I was completely shocked that I was able to keep up with these guys in a stock Si with another person in the car, some camera equipment, and water/soda for everyone. I never once felt like the car was out of control. I will soon be looking for some Hawk Hp+ pads.
The Si is an amazing machine, I couldnt be happier with it.

Im in Sonoma, wine country. I dont remember which roads they were because I dont drive here much anymore. We went up towards Clearlake, went through Calistoga, back down through Boonville and Yorkville
oh man it was nuts. so much fun. Not too much traffic, good quality roads. I need to get better pads, and I really want wider tires (not to mention better ones)

why? we never left out lane unless we could see at least a quarter mile ahead. the only time someone DID leave their lane was when he layed his bike down. Yes, that could have gotten him killed, but so can riding his bike in general.

I'm down for some Hawk HP+ pads.
Glad you had fun, I love to drive my new Si, I have tested it out on a twisty road yet.

The brakes are fine now. I did notice that the paint was bubbling on that black plate that sits behind the rotor... aside from that, they put up with another 5 hrs of pretty hard driving.
