The MSF Experience!
I just wanted to hear some funny stories about the people in your groups and funny things they did while out on the range.
I remember when I took my course we were weaving and then coming to a quick stop and a fellow rider jamed the front brake in the swerve! well he went down it was funny we all laughed and learned from his experience! And yes he was okay just like 2 scratches. The really funny part was the instructor had to jump over the bike as it was sliding at him.

There was this married couple in our group. The guy ended up getting dropped and the wife passed. Not the funniest thing but kinda sucks to be him.
Don't know if this one counts as funny either, but on the last day of my MSF class, just before the final exam, one of our instructors rode up on his YZF750. Unfortunately, a highway popo thought he was travelling too quickly on the highway, and cited him right there in front of us. I was pretty amused, but I definitely felt sorry for him.
we had a chick that would take her hands and feet off the controls whenever she would get herself going too fast or in a curve.
she would put her feet down and run/walk the bike to a stop. it looked painful, but she was a big woman and could manhandle that little rebel 250. she withdrew herself from the class after the 1st day of riding. i couldnt believe i was seeing someone stop a bike by putting their feet down at 10+mph. its damn near impossible at anything over 4mph for me.
her pencil thin boyfriend passed.

Lol, she will stop doing that once she brakes her ankle one of these days.
A guy that I work with is an MSF instructor and he has told me quite a few stories including the girl who went off the course, across 40 feet of grass and ran into the chain link fence. She was going perhaps 10mph the whole time. She didn't do anything the whole way except scream.
There was another one where one guy actually did a brake stand while while they were all lined up waiting for others to get their bikes started. He got tossed immediately, btw so don't try that, lol.
Cheers,
Roy

How in the world do you hit a tree on an MSF range?

i took it when i was 13. passed it, but my dad failed because on his way back to park the bike after completing the final test he hit some gravel on a turn and went down.

hah.. its possible... i was riding a dual purpose Yamaha i think it was.. and it was kinda too tall for me so i couldnt flat foot it.. anyways starting off an exercise i roll the throttle a little and it gets stuck.. i know i shoulda pulled in the clutch and brake but it was my first day and i freaked out.. then not being able to get my feet on the ground scared me too.. then i ended up in a tree.. lesson learned.
*edit.. to explain the tree.. there were those island things, with trees in the middle of them scattered around the course.. kind of a bad idea for a MSF range!
