Default Why go with a Fit?

Seriously that is my question.
I'm just wondering cause I'm looking to get a car and was wondering what were the reasons for getting a Fit.
It doesn't have many horses and its a 5 door hatch and its not like its super light to make up for the horses it is lacking. It seems like I'm not getting something.
So why get a Fit?

well im a previous 06 si owner and i went to a fit sport 5spd man, and i posted why on a thread that was made a yesterday i believe...

why go to a fit? gas milage, insurance, low monthly payments, can use regular gas, its versatility,...you say it lacks hp....its not suppose to have 140 hp like base civic.....the history of fit/jazz is for a commuter econo box.

the only thing i miss honestly besides the K of course who wouldnt but is the sunroof which is unfortunate....but i pay 60 dollars less to american honda, a **** load less for insurance, and i get better gas mileage and i can thankfully put regular into my car, i love the fit, second day with it and i cant wait to get my mugen parts and start customizing it, read more about it, it FITs me, i like saving money, im not filthy rich to just waste money, im a college student and i commute around 50 miles a day sometimes more, get a car that fits you, maybe you should look into the 4dr si sedan if you think the fit motor is your determining factor

We're not going to gain anything from trying to convince you to buy a Fit.

You'll only buy one if you want to... and it doesn't seem like you want to. Do you need a cheap sporty econobox with room for 5, 4 doors, a ton of cargo room and a supposedly fuel efficient engine? If so, test drive a Fit. If not, buy a Ferrari.

If you just think about it, it's kind of common sense. Why would you want to buy a car that gets 33/38MPG, 4 doors, and a 1.5L engine? Obviously not for speed, or because you want a sports car... think a little.

Hey jrzy2nR, I'm not dumb just wondering why people who are car enthusiasts get a Fit and customize it.
I get the whole thing about gas mileage but seems like people are actually deciding to go supercharger soon or swap engines so gas mileage wouldn't be a factor. And I get the whole idea getting the Fit as purely a commuter car.
I was just hoping to get more info about the Fit because I think I'm missing a big important factor that seems to be the hook.
But I guess I get it... seems like the huge cargo space is a plus and ontop of that it is fairly small car for a 5 door.
And don't get me wrong I'm not the rich type that has all this money to spend on a car I'm just researching different cars for the future.
Thanks for all the help guys.

Gas milage is my first reason. Secondly, I can fit my three kids in the back seat, and thirdly...I can haul 8' 2x4's and not have to get a truck....

Other then that, it's one hell of a system hauler.

Gas prices are ridiculous like $3.30 here in Washington. The news was saying that officials are investigating potential scandals here because there is no apparent reason for the gas prices so high.
But yeah reading the other thread doesn't seem like Fits are all that good on gas. Some people said they were getting like 25 mpg and I can get that driving my 240sx driving city most of the time.

also the fact that it has great potential as a auto x car is a good thing to note!

Why go with a Fit?

because it's practical. My life consist of school, work, and goin everywhere because I'm constantly bored of where i live. I take my friends everywhere. I go to San Francisco a lot and parking a Fit is much easier than parking a 3000GT. I went to Irvine and back and only spent a total of $70.

To be honest, the Fit wasn't my first choice. I went from a 320hp twin turbo awd beast to a funny looking econo car. But I love my Fit and at this point in my life rite now, I need something that is more practical and suitable.

I am actually considering one of these too, as a new daily so i can work on my crx more. But it is a little dismaying that there is so much talk that these FITs are not getting the mileage they promise.

That would be the main purchasing point for me. I have my CR-X for fun, this would be a good daily commuter.

well maybe mine is an exception to this mileage talk, i am on my first tank of gas just hit half of a tank and i do all city driving and its at 173. divide that by what 5.4 cause i think its a 10.8 gal tank and thats comes to 32.x miles to the gallon....i have no problem reaching their estimated miles per gallon

I don't believe measuring that way is correct.
I can't say my way is correct, but would be more accurate.

I reset the trip meter everytime I get gas. What ever the mileage
is showing and what amount I fill at the station is how I get my mileage.

Example:
320 on the trip meter
9.5 on the fill
Divide 9.5 into 320 = 33.7 mpg should be.

75% highway avg @ speeds of 75-80mph
25% street.

Why would Honda advertise the MPG as 33/38 if you were only going to get 18-20? Just doesn't make sense to me that people are claiming such low mileage. With the 1.5L/109HP engine, I don't see how you would be getting such shitty mileage. That's almost the same engine as my 98 EJ6 (1.6L/106HP) and I still get 30MPG. Maybe the people claiming bad mileage are unable to do the math? or maybe they have horrid driving habbits? I don't get it.

Well i think that was the problem. People could not figure why the actual mileage was bad in comparison. Especially if you moved from another Honda with decent mileage to get into another "high fuel economy" honda but end up with the same mpg. Some people might start revamping their VX's, HF's and HX's and use those. Some of those had really good mpg if i recall. Yeah their old, but they still work.

You might want to check the tire pressure.
I fill mine up 34psi in the front and 32 psi in
the rear. I bumped up some mileage.

Those are EPA numbers. Of course mileage will vary from
driving habits. My average is around 32-34mpg mixed mostly highway.
I was avg 17-21 with my Evo and that is not really boosting much.
