Default d series high compression questions.....

hey guys, i have a 91 crx dx it is currently stock, i am changing it over to mpfi
i have a spare engine block its from a 90-91 crx HF, i want to build this block to be a high compression engine that is reliable
i have serched for awnsers and am extreamly confused
i would like to use the p29 pistions with eagle rods, will this work?
some people say that the wrist pin location on the p29 rods is 3 mm higher which would result in the pistion sitting 3mm lower a TDC than the stock pistions resulting in a lower compression ratio, i am looking to have a 11.5 to 12.0 CR sooooo is this doable

Honestly, I'd use another block first of all.

2nd why do you want that comp what cam and fuel will you be using?

You can make a 11.5 or 12:1 comp D no problem though if you give us some hints what you want out of it we can help you make a great setup.

id like to be able to make about 150- 160 hp, the reson that id like to use that block is that i already have it and it didmt cost me anything and it ran good when it was pulled
for the cam im not sure what id get but something semi agressive
i would run 92 octane all the time, umm are all si engine bock from the 88-91 crx a 1.6L?

LOL

there is no way you will even get 120 to the wheels with that block/piston combination...

??</TD></TR></TABLE> he wasn't saying with a "D" block, he was talking about your piston/block combo
Good D series high compression just off my head
A6 block "most people's favorite to start with"
Z6 head "Got to love the OBD 1" "Vtec overrated "
y8 IM "the type R of d series, but it is argued to be almost the same as the z6"
A1 pistons "higher compression right off the back"
and remember the ZC has a more agressive cam

damn you ryan you do know a1 pistons are p29's right dusty lol. dude there has been people using p29's and pm7 same pistons for low budget all motor set-ups.

its going to take a wee bit more compression to make 150-160hp try shaving the head a bit also build a motor with the type of cam you plan on using.

thanks for the replies
so how much can be shaved off the block/head and still be a safe setup ....i.e still have pistion to valve clearence and yes i know im going to need an adjustible cam gear if i shave alot off
so its not realy worth using the HF block then?

also, to the OP if you can find it there is a d series piston write up pretty good stuff...
