What you want to do is completely illegal.

The mileage on your vehicle is not the mileage on your motor.

There is a legal way to do this. The DMV can give you a form to fill out and then you will put a sticker in the door jam stating when the milage was changed and your new cluster must read 000000 all the way across.

these guys are right, legality is an issue here... so look into this before you do anything to see if it's legal but the easiest way i know to do what you are trying to do is to hunt the junkyards untill you find a cluster with your aproximate mileage.

again, find out if this is legal. otherwise just write down the difference in your owners manual to keep track. that's what i did..

That doesn't matter. The chassis still has the same mileage, so the mileage must remain the same.

Your right, but thats what the sticker is for, it shows what milage the car had when the cluster was changed out and what milage the new cluster shows.

You have to do a lot to get one of those. You have to provide receipts, exact mileages for engine, odometer, and chassis, etc.

It's a hassle.

Yep, and either way your car still has XXXXXX amount of miles and will always show up on a car fax and the state computer. No point.
