Default Jump start car, but it instantly dies when i try to restart it.

Okay, to start it off, give you the basic over head. YES the alternator is good. YES i let the car idle for 25-30 minutes to build up charge in the battery. I have 2 batteries, and both do the SAME thing.

I have a volt meter, I check the battery before i shut it off. Its at a pretty steady 13.96V charge, sometimes jumping up over 14+ V when at lower idles.

But anyways, I jumped my 92 EG with my mitsu battery and it starts up, seems like it slowly cranks over. I'm thinking it needs a starter, but im not 100% sure, because i cant even get it to start over on its own. When i go to restart it, it will just "click click click" I did manage to however, get it to "want" to start over but it didnt last long.

My question is:

Is my starter just THAT bad, it cant crank over roughly, high 13V charges?

BOTH of my batteries bad? even though one is fairly new... Or maybe it's just being flat charged and not getting a deep charge?

I'm lost, and frustrated as expletive as my brother changed the Alternator in my Diamante and fucked my engine up.(wrong bolt, in wrong spot= bad oil leak) So I'm trying to figure this Electrical problem out so I can get my *** to work this week :X .

Any help is highly appreciated guys, I'm stressed out.. nice weather and no ******* wheels other then my illegal Bike :X

take it to an auto parts store to see if they could "jump pack" it. They will give the car enough juice to start the car. If it doesn't work, it's the battery. Auto parts stores batter tests are free around here so... ehh..

Try checking the voltage of the battery when its not hooked up to the car. I say its the batteries.

The starter wouldnt make those "click click click" noises you hear.

And how are you sure the alternator is still good?

while the car was running, i took the Power connection off the Battery. It stayed running. Thats how i tested the alternator.

Anyways, i think it IS the batteries... Going to buy a new one tonight and F with it tomorrow.

Get a new battery, or one you know is good for a fact.

Check the alternator, then the starter. Autozone can/will do this for free (don't always take their "opinion" as fact though).

Bad solenoid maybe? I had an older car with the same exact symptoms. I got a new alternator and battery, same thing still happened. It eventually turned out to the be starter solenoid.

I had a starter fail on my GM van. Took it to two autoparts places and it tested good but Autozone said it was bad even though it spun during the bench test. Sure enough, it was bad and a replacement fixed me up.

you can always have 12+ volts and you can have the car crank slow. you have to check the amperage of the battery when its trying to start. so try to take it to a shop that has that machine (i forgot what it was called) and they should be able to do a load test on the battery to see if your charging system is working properly, also see if the battery is good.
