Can someone please tell me that the majority of these kinds of accidents occur due to the driver being reckless? I am trying to get that point through my gf.

quite a few, yes, but not all are the motorcycle driver's fault, it's the other party.

well I am more referring to the outrageous accidents. I know other retarded drivers change lane, or run into you w/o looking, but accidents where the motorcycle is destroyed into confetti ... you get the idea

Looks like he tried to go around the truck, judging by where he hit it. I'm willing to bet he looked down at his speedo, looked up and target fixated on the trailer when he realized how quickly he was coming up on it.

This thread makes me glad I don't buy cheap gear, even though he died (RIP) he's still intact after an impact like that. I'm sure the impact is what killed him but the helmet took a huge blow and is still in one piece, thats pretty amazing. he probably would have survived if he wasn't going so fast....
