Default Carnage!

I just got around to tearing down the motor in my new civic this weekend. Check out what I found!

Do you guys think this is repairable?

Yeah, i was joking about repairing it. I already picked up a new head for it at the junkyard. I think there is something wrong with the oil pump, though, since I dont seem to be moving any oil.

I knew the cam had siezed when I bought the car, and never really planned on running this engine at all. I just figured people on here would like to see the carnage.

Looks like the oil hadn't been changed in a realllly long time either.

Was it full on oil?

No, it was basically empty. I refilled it and tried cranking the motor over this morning, though, and I dont seem to be getting oil pressure, and there is no oil moving up to the head, so I think the oil pump might not be working.

Wow. I've never seen that much carnage on a cam before. Even on -really- poorly maintained cars.
Aftermarket crappy cam?

nope, bone stock d16a6, 205k. I think he just ran out of oil, but that still doesnt explain the horrific damage. Ive seen cams sieze before and just have a little bit of aluminum fused to the cam. This thing had damn near 1/8" of steel machined off the cam on two different journals. It is amazing that it was able to transmit enough torque through the timing belt to cause this much damage without it seizing earlier. I bet it was making some pretty terrible sounds before it finally siezed...
