Passenger Side Drive Shaft won't pop in
Had to replace both shafts on a 95 cx with manual transmission but the passenger side won't pop in. It slides in and seems to get stuck about about 1" shy (by the way, the driver's side popped right in). I looked inside the transmission opening and the splines feel ok but I noticed what looks like a a metal rod, about the diameter of a pencil, inside the transmission. I'm thinking that this rod is preventing the shaft from seating fully. I gently tried to move the rod with a screwdriver but it did not budge. What is this part? The transmission was fine prior to removing these axles.
I just registered on this board so I might not be able to reply because of the trial status but all of your responses are appreciated. Thanks

BTW, the only way to remove the rod is to buy an LSD, but this is not why your axle will not seat completely. Photos would probably help, however this is a pretty straight-forward issue.
Smacked the outer end with a hammer and it went in. I placed the old axle nut to protect the threads. Not happy that I had to get so crude but it sees like it worked out. Car is running fine. Thanks to all.

Maybe the OP said about the rod the size of a pencil in his first post. Unless I'm having serious problems reading the English language, I think he was speaking of the diff pin, because he thought it was in the way of the axle input shaft. I didn't make things complicated you're being a 16 year old who didn't fully read or understand the first post.
